Doctors claimed it is the first time that cases of gallbladder gangrene have been reported after recovery from COVID-19 infection.
"White fungus (Candida) causing multifocal perforations in the food pipe, small bowel and large bowel in COVID-19 infection has not been reported in literature to the best of our knowledge," Dr Anil Arora, Chairman of the Institute of Liver, Gastroenterology and Pancreaticobiliary Sciences at the hospital, said.
Five COVID-19 patients have suffered cytomegalovirus-related rectal bleeding at a leading private facility in New Delhi during the second wave of the pandemic, hospital authorities said on Tuesday and claimed it was being reported for the 'first time' in immunocompetent persons.
